COBOL: What does first character in FBA/VBA datasets mean

The first character in the FBA and VBA datasets indicates the carriage control character. Values and meaning of them given below.

blank : Space 1 line, then print (single spacing)

0 : Space 2 lines, then print (double spacing)

1 : New page

- : Space 3 lines, then print (triple spacing)

+ : Suppress spacing, then print (overstrike previous line)
